Taste of the Danforth

I love when streets are shut down and people get free reign. Such was the case with the Taste of the Danforth held from August 5 – August 7th in Toronto. This annual street festival brings together people from all walks of life to help celebrate everything Greek.

The Danforth, from Broadview to Jones was alive with Greek music, food tents and shop merchants hocking their wares. Children, balloons in hand strolled with their parents and friends laughed and joked while wearing their Moosehead foam headpieces. The weather was hot and rain stayed away. It was a good day to eat!

My day started with some Spanakopita – Spinach pies and Tiropita – Cheese pies and then progessed to the following:

Loukoumades – Honey Balls w/Cinnamon

Beef Gyros on a pita with pickles, tomatoes and tzatziki sauce

Tangy Lemonade to quench our thirst

Chicken Gyros on a PIta with Fries, Tzatziki, onions and tomatoes

So stuffed….   =)
