Rain and grey skies could not dampen the spirits of people strolling along Bloor Street West for the Taste of the Kingsway, a yearly street festival that runs from Prince Edward Drive to Montgomery Rd.
Now, I wasn’t only here to walk around, check out the vendors and eat, I was volunteering! Had my rain boots on, handed out doggie treats to all the neighbourhood pups, met some new people and helped to support CIBC Run For The Cure.
Volunteer time over, I was free to stroll and take in the attractions. Seeing as it was lunch time, my first snack was a veal sandwich from Big Papa.
Now, I’m not a stranger to this area, but I am a stranger to some of the shops and restaurants. Walking along I found this little pie shop.
Was talking to the owner for a little bit, he normally carries full size pies of all sorts, but for the festival made all types of mini pies. His shop was full of strawberry, blueberry, bumble berry and strawberry rhubarb mini pies. I picked up one bumble berry and one strawberry rhubarb. How cute, mine had a heart shape on it.
Some other snacks I picked up along the way…
I also scored a free loaf of bread courtesy of Cobs Bread.
What a great community event! I made some great new discoveries that exist right in my backyard and had fun doing it! =)
