…for pecan tarts. But I had no pecans. I had a look in the cupboard and saw I had walnuts. Hmmm, I would make do.
Instead of tarts, I decided on making squares. It was just quicker. I started with making the crust. Flour, brown sugar and butter – mixed together until crumbly and then pressed into the square pan.
Next, the filling – Eggs, brown sugar, corn syrup, melted butter and of course, toasted walnuts.
After 35 minutes, squares were done. I chilled them in the fridge for about an hour before I sliced them into squares and ate some.
Nutty, slightly gooey and just sweet enough. Satisfied =)
