October is a busy birthday month for me. The first of a few dinners this month was kicked off last week at Union Social.
Lively atmosphere, there was a dining room side and a bar side. We were on the loud bar side.
A simple menu with some spins on apps, salads, soups, burgers and flatbreads and daily drink specials. I’m down with any place that has $5 house wines!

Short rib and gorgonzola longboard flatbread. I am obsessed with gorgonzola, well any kind of blue cheese. The short rib was tender and the cheese flavourful. And the portion size was ridiculous. Loved this.
Some more wine, this time a Malbec, my fave variety. Can’t remember the name, but in the end it didn’t matter, it did the trick.
Of course dessert. Mars bar brownie and mint chocolate chip ice cream for the birthday celebrant.
Cranberry rhubarb creme brulee for me. Love that crispy sugar top. Delicious cream custard with bits of fruit. A first for me.
Good food, smooth wine, yummy desserts and great friends. Always a pleasure. =)
