I like adventures. It’s fun to have someone suggest trying a new place to eat out of the blue. And that is what happened here.
I had an off day from work and met up with my peep C. The plan was to go eat and then do some shopping. She suggested The Famous OWL of Minerva , a Korean restaurant. This was a place I had seen many times downtown or had friends post pictures about. I was always curious. So, when my friend suggested it, I jumped at the chance.
It was delicious. End of story.
Bibimbap – a Korean dish consisting of rice topped with sautéed vegetables, chill paste and beef or some other mean, with the addition of a raw or fried egg
Kalbi – generally a grilled dish in Korean cuisine that is made with marinated beef or pork short ribs in a type of Korean soy sauce. This dish was tender and flavourful.
Lunch at Turtle Jacks on this frosty March 3rd. I’m off from work and enjoying my day.
A glass of Los Arboles Malbec.
Everything on the menu was so appetizing, but I went with the apple and Brie burger. Fries and gravy on the side.
Apple. Check. Brie. Check. Burger. Check. Mustard. Check. All things I love to eat.
Always room for dessert. This one came with a candle for me to blow out. Here’s hoping my wishes come true. =)
I’ve discovered awesome gnocchi. Melt in your mouth, making you want more, awesome gnocchi. Paese Ristorante is the place where I found this awesome gnocchi.
Start, some wine. Beaulieu Vineyards Reserve Tapestry 2009, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Deep and dark, a nice floral scent, rich flavour of fruit like cherry and plum, smooth finish. Delicious.
While the wine is being sipped, we snacked on some focaccia bread drizzled with oil and dipped in a pesto sauce of sorts. Crisp on the outside, super soft on the inside.
My dinner – Lamb Carbonara, Braised lamb neck, spinach gnocchi, roasted garlic soffrito and oregano. Did I say this was melt in your mouth awesome? It was melt in your mouth awesome.
I am already planning my next visit to Paese! =)
